A few good ideas about making room for the Savior that I’ve received lately:
1. On Christmas Eve, Melissa’s family hangs a red stocking for Christ by the fireplace. Everyone writes on a piece of paper what their gift to Jesus is this year and we read them together on Christmas morning. These stay in the stocking so we can read them year after year.
2. Anne Marie and her neighbors have decided not to buy neighbor gifts this year. Instead, the neighbors are pooling this money together, and they will donate it to a good cause — maybe a family that needs a little extra help this Christmas.
3. Tanya’s family focuses on one figure in their large nativity set each day. They talk about that person, read scriptures about him or her, and then add that figure to the display. On Christmas Eve, they focus on the Christ Child, and then place Him in His central place, making the nativity set complete.
4. And last, but certainly not least, from Mike: “I am trying to be a better husband and father.”
I can’t think of a better way to make room for the Savior than that. Thanks, Mike.
More good ideas to come in the following days.
